President Bola Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, who cited political blackmail amid allegations against him.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following allegations leveled against him.

Nnaji, who was appointed by President Tinubu in August 2023, tendered his resignation in a letter addressed to the President, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development, noting that the President had accepted the minister’s resignation.

According to the statement, Nnaji explained that he had become a target of blackmail by political opponents, which influenced his decision to step down.

President Tinubu, in response, thanked Nnaji for his service and wished him success in his future endeavours.

The Presidency has not yet announced a replacement for the vacant ministerial position, but sources indicate that an acting minister may be appointed pending a substantive nomination.

Nnaji’s resignation marks the latest cabinet change under the Tinubu administration, which has continued to emphasize accountability and integrity among public officials.
