Frank Warren Dismisses Immediate Rematch Between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.

In a recent statement, promoter Frank Warren has ruled out the prospect of an immediate rematch between IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua. Following Dubois’ impressive fifth-round victory over Joshua in September, fans had anticipated a quick return to the ring for these two heavyweights. However, Warren’s comments indicate a shift in focus towards securing alternative opponents for Dubois’ next fight.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, had previously expressed optimism regarding a potential rematch, suggesting that negotiations were progressing well. Yet, recent updates reveal that discussions have stalled due to Joshua’s need for additional recovery time. Hearn disclosed that Joshua is still nursing “niggles” sustained during their last encounter, making him unprepared for Dubois’ preferred fight date of February 22.
Warren, determined to keep Dubois active, stated, “We’re looking at other options for Daniel’s next fight,” underscoring that Dubois’ career development remains paramount. He further emphasized, “I don’t see that happening next,” referring to the rematch, and reiterated the importance of maintaining Dubois’ fighting schedule.
With the IBF President Daryl Peoples confirming that Dubois can pursue an optional title defense against any ranked opponent before April 22, the door remains open for various potential matchups, including a domestic clash with Fabio Wardley. As Warren succinctly put it, “With the greatest respect, we’re in the Daniel Dubois business. He’s the one that matters to me, and he wants to fight on that date.”
This decisive stance from Warren indicates a strategic approach to Dubois’ career, prioritizing immediate activity over a delayed rematch, and positioning the heavyweight champion for continued success in the ring.

Real Madrid Players Hold Inquest After Arsenal Defeat.

Following a humbling 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-final first leg, Real Madrid players reportedly held an inquest in the dressing room. The loss, their third consecutive, has ignited concerns within the squad.
According to El Chiringuito, midfielder Federico Valverde initiated a frank discussion, questioning the team’s lack of response after Declan Rice’s free-kick goals. This sparked responses from key players including Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, and Kylian Mbappe.
The sentiment amongst the players appears unified: Real Madrid must demonstrate their championship pedigree in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. A focus on early goals is perceived as crucial to mounting a successful comeback against a confident Arsenal side. The challenge now lies in translating this internal resolve into tangible results on the pitch.
