Copenhagen – The trial of former Danish Member of Parliament and Minister, Henrik Sass Larsen, commenced Thursday at the Copenhagen City Court. Mr. Sass Larsen faces charges related to the possession of over 6,000 images and 2,000 video files containing child sexual abuse material, in addition to a child-like doll designed for sexual purposes.
The prosecution’s case rests on evidence obtained during police searches of Mr. Larsen’s electronic devices in 2023 and 2024. Mr. Sass Larsen has pleaded not guilty. He claims the images were part of a search for images of himself as a child, due to his own alleged history as a victim of abuse. He alleges the doll was an unsolicited gift.
His defense attorney, Berit Ernst, argues that mere possession of the materials does not constitute guilt without evidence of intent to use them for criminal purposes. The outcome of the trial will hinge on whether the court finds sufficient evidence to prove criminal intent. If convicted, Mr. Sass Larsen could face up to one year in prison per charge.
