An election in Edo State was marred by an incident at the Ozolua Model Primary School, Iguobazuwa East Ward, where angry voters reportedly attacked a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent.
The incident occurred earlier today at the ward headquarters in Ovia South West Local Government Area. Voters accused the unnamed PDP agent of hoarding their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), preventing them from exercising their right to vote.
Eyewitness accounts state that the situation escalated quickly, with voters manhandling and beating the agent. Prompt intervention by police officers deployed to the ward prevented further harm.
According to one voter, the PDP agent allegedly refused to release the PVCs in his possession, sparking the outrage.
Despite the incident, reports indicate that voters turned out in large numbers across various wards in Iguobazuwa. Voting materials arrived promptly at 7 am, suggesting that voting proceeded in other areas.
