Elliot Explains His Role
The Nollywood actor-turned-politician explained that he was outside Nigeria when the impeachment took place and only signed the document upon his return after discovering that most lawmakers had already endorsed it.
Elliot added that the issue was later resolved after party leadership intervened, clarifying that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had no prior knowledge of the impeachment attempt.
Gbajabiamila’s Allegation
Elliot’s clarification follows remarks by Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, who recently suggested that Elliot was among those behind the controversial move against Speaker Obasa.
Gbajabiamila made the claim during an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos last Thursday, alleging that Elliot’s involvement in the crisis nearly cost him his position.
House Moves On From Crisis
The Lagos State House of Assembly has since resolved the leadership dispute, with Mudashiru Obasa continuing as Speaker.
Elliot emphasized that the House has moved past the incident, urging the public to disregard false narratives surrounding his role in the 2025 political episode.
