On October 30, 2024, Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, achieved a significant milestone by breaking the record for the most-watched live stream in Africa on TikTok. The electrifying event, co-hosted by prominent content creators Peller, Jarvis, and Jo Blaq, captivated an unprecedented audience of 389,800 viewers, with an impressive 164,000 tuning in simultaneously. This remarkable feat surpassed the previous record held by Peller during a live session featuring fellow artist Tiwa Savage.
During the livestream, Davido further solidified his impact by generating 377 lion gifts on TikTok, each valued at $400. In a gesture of generosity, he announced that all earnings from these gifts would be donated to his co-hosts, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that defines his approach to success.
In addition to this record-breaking achievement, Davido shared insights from his personal journey at the 2024 LAS annual summit. Reflecting on his path post-graduation from Babcock University, he highlighted the choices that shaped his successful career in the music industry. Davido articulated that he took a break from academia to pursue his passion for music, a decision that ultimately propelled him to stardom.
“I am living proof of someone who became successful after school,” he remarked, expressing how his family’s support allowed him to forge his unique path. Nigerian singer Naira Marley’s family life has become a topic of public interest after Instagram model and TikToker Sandra Benede publicly acknowledged being the mother of his twin daughters, Aishat and Simiat Fashola.

South African sensation Tyla is poised to make history as the first African personality to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Organizers announced the Grammy-winning artist as the host of the 2025 edition, scheduled to air live on June 21st from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
Beyond hosting duties, Tyla has also secured two nominations: Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for “Show Me Love” with WizTheMc, and “bees & honey.”
