According to reports, TikTok ceased operations in the U.S. on January 19, following the failure of its Chinese owners to comply with a law enforced by President Joe Biden in April 2024. This development has raised concerns among artists reliant on the platform for music promotion.
A social media user on X, identified as @1lex, voiced a diminutive opinion about TikTok’s impact on artists like Cardi B, suggesting they should seek alternative employment. “@1lex” remarked, “Now, all the female TikTok rappers gotta find real jobs. You first, @imcardib.”
Cardi B’s response was both assertive and humorous, highlighting her financial opportunities beyond TikTok. “Babe, I’m getting a $7 million offer to do my own vitamins. I can retire you from your flipping burger job by tomorrow. Thank me though; I’ve been helping you get your $8.99 Twitter check,” she retorted.
