Burna Boy Declares “African Giant” Persona Dead.
Damini Ogulu, the Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artist known as Burna Boy, has announced a significant shift in his artistic identity. In a recent Instagram post promoting his forthcoming album, “No Sign Of Weakness,” the singer stated that his previous persona, the “African Giant,” is deceased, attributing its demise to individuals within his inner circle.
Ogulu revealed a struggle between the “African Giant” and a new iteration, “Big 7,” whose purpose is to safeguard what remains of his authentic self. This internal conflict suggests a profound period of transformation and a deliberate distancing from his established image.
The announcement coincides with a public plea from fellow Nigerian musician, Portable, for a collaboration. Following a recent monetary gift from Burna Boy, Portable expressed his desire for a featured verse, highlighting the continued influence and perceived significance of Burna Boy’s involvement in a track. While the request remains unanswered, the situation underscores the ongoing evolution of Burna Boy’s persona and its impact on the Nigerian music landscape.
