The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has called on Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, the member representing Obingwa-West constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Erondu, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), received the appeal during Kalu’s visit to Umuahia on Saturday.
Kalu said Erondu’s political influence and grassroots appeal were needed in the APC, particularly for the task of ensuring President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Kalu emphasized that the 2027 general elections would require unity and collaboration among political leaders, describing the mission to deliver Tinubu as greater than any personal ambition.
He praised Erondu as a grassroots politician loved by his people, noting that his inclusion in the APC would strengthen the party’s base in Abia State.
The Deputy Speaker also revealed that the Abia APC had registered over 160,000 members, reflecting growing support for the ruling party in the state.
Erondu Promises Cooperation
In his response, Erondu Jnr expressed gratitude to Kalu for the visit and commended his leadership style.
He promised to reciprocate the gesture of solidarity and work toward President Tinubu’s re-election, signaling openness to future collaboration with the APC.
Kalu also commended Erondu’s empowerment initiatives in Obingwa West, describing them as evidence of his commitment to community development.
