Emerging Nigerian artist Ayra Starr has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the “Big 3” of Afrobeats – Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy – by declaring Wizkid as the undisputed king of the genre.
In a recent interview with Complex, Starr asserted her conviction, explaining her decision to feature Wizkid on her track ‘Gimme Dat’. She stated that Wizkid’s unique sonic style and mastery of “sexy Afrobeats” made him the ideal collaborator for the song. Starr emphasized that Wizkid’s artistry perfectly embodied the desired vibe, solidifying her belief in his reign over this particular sub-genre and, by extension, Afrobeats itself.
