Arsenal Football Club has formally announced the appointment of Max Porter as the new head coach of the under-21s team. The announcement was made via the club’s official website on Friday.
Porter’s journey with Arsenal began in 2017, initially serving as the under-9s head coach. He subsequently progressed through various age group levels, including the under-13s, under-17s, and under-19s.
His appointment follows the departure of Mehmet Ali, who has joined Brentford’s first-team coaching staff.
Per Mertesacker, Arsenal’s Academy manager, has expressed confidence in Porter’s capabilities, stating that he possesses the “qualities needed to be a successful leader and coach.” Mertesacker also acknowledged Porter’s dedication and contributions to the club thus far.
