The Nafiu Bala Gombe-led faction of the ADC has disowned a meeting between Atiku Abubakar and alleged ADC stakeholders in Adamawa, calling it illegitimate and politically motivated.

The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Bala Gombe has criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his recent meeting with some individuals described as ADC stakeholders in Adamawa State, labelling the gathering as illegitimate and politically motivated.

In a statement issued by Dr Christopher Okechukwu, the Director of Media and Public Affairs of the faction, the group expressed strong disapproval of the meeting, describing it as a “sham” designed to create a false sense of legitimacy and support.

ADC Disowns Meeting

The statement clarified that the meeting did not have the backing of the party’s national leadership and did not represent the true interests of the ADC in Adamawa State.

According to the faction, a closer look at the attendees revealed that many were former members of the APC and PDP who had abandoned their parties due to perceived irrelevance.

Questions Over Motives and Legitimacy

The ADC faction urged the public and political observers to scrutinise such developments carefully, insisting on transparency and due process in all political collaborations and coalitions.

Okechukwu questioned the motives behind the meeting, suggesting it was a publicity stunt rather than a genuine political engagement.

He further described the meeting as “a desperate attempt to create the illusion of support and legitimacy,” adding that its purpose and outcomes remain unclear.

Call for Transparency and Accountability

The statement concluded by calling on the public to demand transparency and accountability from political figures and coalition leaders seeking to associate with the ADC.

The faction reaffirmed its commitment to upholding internal democracy and protecting the integrity of the ADC’s national structure against what it described as politically motivated manipulations.
