In a momentous occasion, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Amah, who recently embraced Islam, received royal blessings from Emir Muhammad Sanusi. The officer, now known as Muhammad, visited the emir’s palace accompanied by friends and well-wishers, marking a significant milestone in his spiritual journey.

ACP Amah is widely recognized for his unwavering integrity, notably rejecting a $200,000 bribe from an armed robbery suspect involved in a theft exceeding N300,000,000 from a Bureau De Change operator. This act of moral fortitude has solidified his reputation as an incorruptible law enforcement officer.

During the audience, Emir Sanusi expressed his delight and encouraged ACP Muhammad to pursue Islamic knowledge diligently. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the core tenets of Islam, which include the five daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, performing the pilgrimage to Makkah, and fulfilling the obligation of Zakkat. Furthermore, the emir urged the officer to maintain his exemplary character, uphold his integrity, and honor his parents and close relations.

Before his conversion, Amah was already a respected figure in the police force, particularly during his tenure as the Divisional Police Officer at Bompai Police Station, where he notably constructed a mosque. His commitment to ethical policing earned him a promotion to Assistant Commissioner of Police by the Police Service Commission (PSC) and recognition with the prestigious Public Service Integrity Award from former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.

Currently serving as the Officer in Charge of a Mobile Police Squadron in Lagos State, ACP Muhammad Amah continues to exemplify the values of integrity and service, inspiring both his colleagues and the community at large.

China has escalated its trade dispute with the United States by raising tariffs on U.S. imports to 84 percent, a significant increase from the previous 34 percent effective by April 10th. This action follows closely on the heels of the Trump administration’s near doubling of duties on Chinese goods.

Global markets have reportedly reacted negatively to the imposition of these latest U.S. tariffs. A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson has condemned the U.S.’s actions as “arrogant and bullying,” referencing the 104% duties imposed by the Trump administration.

The spokesperson further stated that the U.S. must adopt an attitude of equality, respect, and mutual benefit to facilitate meaningful dialogue and negotiation in resolving the ongoing trade conflict.
