TikTok removes over 2.1 million videos in Nigeria in Q2 2024 for community guideline violations.

In a recent Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, TikTok announced significant strides in its content moderation efforts, underscoring its commitment to creating a safer platform for users. The report revealed that 99.1% of problematic videos were proactively removed before users had a chance to report them, with an impressive 90.7% taken down within 24 hours of being uploaded. This proactive approach highlights TikTok’s dedication to swiftly addressing harmful content, particularly for its users in Nigeria, where the affected videos constituted less than 1% of all uploads during the reporting period.

Globally, TikTok showcased its efficacy by removing over 178 million videos in June 2024, with a substantial 144 million of these removals being driven by automated systems. The platform now boasts a proactive detection rate of 98.2%, allowing it to tackle harmful content more efficiently than ever before.
