Tyla Breaks Streaming Record, Surpassing Beyoncé.

South African singer Tyla has achieved a remarkable milestone, breaking Beyoncé’s record for the most streamed album by a Black female artist released in 2024. Her eponymous debut album has amassed an impressive 1.565 billion streams on Spotify, narrowly surpassing Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter,’ which garnered 1.564 billion streams.
In addition to this achievement, Tyla’s album holds the distinction of being the all-time most streamed album by a female African artist. The lead single, ‘Water,’ has also made waves, approaching one billion streams on Spotify and winning the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards.
Despite her groundbreaking success, Tyla’s album and its deluxe edition were notably snubbed in the recent nominations for the 67th Grammy Awards. Nevertheless, she remains the most awarded African artist of the year, with an impressive total of 20 accolades. These include one Grammy, three MTV EMAs, two BET Awards, and numerous others, highlighting her significant impact on the music industry.
Tyla’s achievements not only underscore her talent but also pave the way for greater recognition of African artists on the global stage.
