Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has attributed Monday’s widespread service disruptions to a significant cyberattack. In an interview with Fox Business Network, Musk stated that the attack, which caused considerable downtime and functionality issues for users, appeared to originate from IP addresses located within the Ukrainian region.

Musk initially described the incident earlier in the day as a “massive cyberattack.” He later elaborated, suggesting the scale of the assault indicated the involvement of either a coordinated group or potentially a nation-state actor.

The platform experienced widespread complaints from users beginning at approximately 5:30 AM ET. While details surrounding the nature and extent of the attack remain limited, Musk’s allegations are likely to draw considerable scrutiny and potentially prompt further investigation.
