Nigerian music icon Wizkid has achieved a remarkable milestone on the TurnTable Top 100, Nigeria’s premier music chart, by establishing the longest gap between number-one songs. His latest chart-topping hit, “MMS,” features the talented artist Asake and is part of Asake’s recently released third album, “Lungu Boy.”

This success marks Wizkid’s second number-one single on the TurnTable Top 100, following his previous hit “Ginger,” which featured Burna Boy and was released nearly four years ago—specifically, 3 years, 9 months, and 12 days prior. With this latest accomplishment, Wizkid has surpassed the previous record held by Omah Lay, who had a gap of 1 year, 10 months, and 16 days between his number-one tracks.

This achievement further solidifies Wizkid’s status as a titan in the Nigerian music industry, showcasing his enduring influence and dominance that spans over a decade. As he prepares for the highly anticipated release of his sixth studio album, “Morayo,” named in honor of his late mother, fans are eager for new music from the Grammy-winning artist.

In addition to “Morayo,” Wizkid has teased listeners with the second installment of his “Soundman” EP, released in December 2023. He has also been active in 2024, collaborating with various artists, including DJ Tunez and Shenseea, while maintaining his vocal presence on chart-topping tracks.

Wizkid’s unrivaled success and longevity continue to inspire a new generation of Nigerian artists, further cementing his legacy as one of the country’s most revered and influential musical figures. As anticipation builds for “Morayo,” it is evident that Wizkid’s impact on the music landscape will be felt for years to come.
