Vice President Kashim Shettima’s Official Visit to Sweden: Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Vice President Kashim Shettima has embarked on a significant two-day visit to Sweden, representing Nigeria in a series of crucial bilateral engagements. This trip comes shortly after President Bola Tinubu’s recent working vacation in the United Kingdom and his subsequent engagements in Paris.
During this visit, Vice President Shettima is set to hold discussions with key Swedish officials, including a meeting with Crown Princess Victoria and the Swedish Prime Minister. These dialogues aim to foster enhanced cooperation between Nigeria and Sweden in critical sectors such as information and communication technology (ICT), digitalisation, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.
A particularly noteworthy engagement will be with Norrsken, a Stockholm-based venture capital impact investor that has recently launched Norrsken22, a substantial $205 million tech investment fund dedicated to Africa. This meeting is poised to provide Nigerian entrepreneurs valuable insights into accessing this fund, thereby bolstering the technology ecosystem in Nigeria, with a notable 40% of Norrsken22’s investments earmarked for Nigerian tech ventures.
Additionally, 12 Nigerian private sector companies are accompanying Vice President Shettima, seeking to strengthen their business ties with Sweden. Throughout his visit, Shettima will articulate Nigeria’s economic vision and highlight ongoing reforms aimed at creating a conducive business environment for investors.
The Vice President’s engagements in Sweden reflect Nigeria’s commitment to international partnerships that drive economic growth and innovation. He is expected to return to Nigeria on Saturday, bringing valuable insights and opportunities for collaboration back home.
