The United States announced Tuesday it has brokered separate agreements with both Ukraine and Russia aimed at ensuring safe navigation in the Black Sea. Key components of the agreement include a commitment from both nations to refrain from targeting energy infrastructure and to eliminate the use of force against commercial vessels.

Further, the U.S. pledged support for the restoration of Russia’s access to global markets for agricultural products and fertilizers, addressing a point of contention stemming from imposed sanctions. This support includes facilitating access to ports, payment systems, and lower maritime insurance costs.

The White House statement expressed gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia for facilitating the discussions, highlighting the Kingdom’s continued role in mediating this crucial dialogue aimed at achieving a lasting peace. This agreement represents a significant step towards de-escalation and ensuring stability in the Black Sea region.
