In a recent statement, Ondo South Senator Jimoh Ibrahim announced that President Bola Tinubu is poised to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Nigeria’s security framework by 2025. This initiative aims to enhance the government’s ability to combat insecurity, particularly targeting bandits, kidnappers, and terrorists through advanced technological applications.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Senator Ibrahim highlighted the substantial ₦49.7 trillion budget proposal presented by President Tinubu, which allocates ₦4.91 trillion specifically for security measures. He expressed confidence that the deployment of AI tools would significantly disrupt criminal activities, making life increasingly difficult for offenders.

Senator Ibrahim articulated a vision where enhanced security leads to greater national stability and economic prosperity. He posited that an effective utilization of the allocated security budget could yield increased crude oil production, thereby generating additional revenue for the nation. “If we spend ₦5 trillion on security, we would have more peace and produce more oil,” he asserted.

The senator further noted that the security landscape in Nigeria has already improved under President Tinubu’s leadership, citing the liberation of towns previously under Boko Haram control. He commended the efforts of the military and police, stating, “The security index has improved. I see a positive security index, meaning that the army and police have done an excellent job.”

As the nation anticipates the operationalization of the 2025 budget, Senator Ibrahim remains optimistic about the potential advancements in Nigeria’s security situation, emphasizing the importance of continued investment in safety and stability for the country’s future.
