In a significant development for governance in Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani has officially appointed James Atung Kanyip as the new Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs. This decision was announced in a statement on Saturday by Mallam Ibraheem Musa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
The recent appointments extend beyond Kanyip, with Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed assuming the role of Commissioner for Finance, Barde Yunana Markus as Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, and Farida Abubakar Ahmed as Executive Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC). Additionally, Vitus Azuka Ewuzie has been designated as Senior Special Assistant for Legal Matters, while Francis Damina will focus on Research and Documentation.
Other notable appointees include Victor Mathew Bobai as Senior Special Assistant for Public Affairs, Abdulmutallib Isah as Senior Special Assistant for Special Duties, and Abdulhaleem Ishaq Ringim as Special Assistant for Economic Matters. The Governor’s statement highlighted that these appointments are part of a broader strategy to revitalize his administration and enhance service delivery across various sectors.

### Sokoto State’s Ambitious Budget Proposal
In related governance news, Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has presented a substantial budget of ₦526.88 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. Dubbed the “Transformational and Infrastructural Budget,” this financial plan aims to tackle key issues aligned with the nine priority areas of his administration, including security, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
Governor Aliyu emphasized the commitment of his administration to deliver the dividends of democracy and good governance to the people of Sokoto State. The budget proposes a capital expenditure of ₦349.39 billion and recurrent expenditure of ₦176.30 billion, reflecting a balanced approach to development and operational needs.
In response to ongoing security challenges, the governor announced the procurement and distribution of over 130 patrol vehicles to enhance the capabilities of security agencies in the state.
