In a striking development, popular Nigerian TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, widely known as Sea King, has been re-arrested in the premises of a Lagos magistrate’s court. The incident occurred on Thursday as he attended a separate trial initiated by the police. This re-arrest, which has drawn significant attention, is reportedly linked to allegations of cyberbullying directed at Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the esteemed General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

Sea King is said to have engaged in derogatory comments during a live TikTok session in December 2024, targeting Pastor Adeboye. Following his court appearance, he was swiftly taken to the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja before his transfer to Abuja, igniting discussions about the implications of social media conduct.

The re-arrest was highlighted by human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who shared the news via an X post. Sowore indicated that he and other legal representatives were present at the Police Federal Investigation Department when they learned of Sea King’s fate, describing the situation as a “kidnapping” orchestrated by the police.

This incident is not Sea King’s first encounter with the law. In December 2024, he faced accusations of insulting prominent figures, including President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, through viral social media videos. He was charged with cyberstalking, treason, and conduct likely to incite a breach of peace. Ultimately, a magistrate granted him bail set at N500,000, contingent upon the provision of two sureties.

The re-arrest of Sea King underscores the mounting tensions between social media expression and legal repercussions in Nigeria. As the situation develops, it poses critical questions about the extent of free speech in the digital age and its potential ramifications on individuals who dare to voice dissent.
