President Tinubu is preparing to welcome the Indian Prime Minister in Abuja.
On Sunday, November 17, President Bola Tinubu will host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a pivotal State Visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. This momentous occasion marks the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Nigeria since Dr. Manmohan Singh’s trip in 2007, when the two nations established a strategic partnership aimed at fostering mutual growth and collaboration.
According to a statement from Tinubu’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Saturday. The visit is not only significant due to its historical context but also for the timely discussions that will ensue between the two leaders. They are set to deliberate on measures to strengthen the longstanding ties between Nigeria and India, with a focus on enhancing cooperation across various critical sectors.
In anticipation of this visit, the two nations have already taken steps towards deepening their relationship by signing three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Friday. These agreements, signed by Ambassador Dumoma Umar Ahmed on behalf of Nigeria and Mr. Dammu Ravi for India, reflect a commitment to bolstering bilateral relations and fostering collaboration that will benefit both countries.
As Nigeria and India continue to navigate the complexities of global relations, President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi’s discussions are poised to pave the way for a future marked by increased cooperation and shared prosperity.
