President Tinubu Intervenes in Rivers State Political Impasse.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu convened a meeting with Niger Delta stakeholders at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, addressing the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State. The President urged the delegation, comprising members of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and other prominent figures, to mediate a resolution, specifically emphasizing the need for Governor Sim Fubara to implement recent Supreme Court rulings reinstating State Assembly lawmakers.
Tinubu stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law and respecting judicial decisions for the sake of democratic stability and regional harmony. He reiterated his commitment to peace in the Niger Delta, acknowledging its crucial role in Nigeria’s economic prosperity. The President’s intervention underscores the Federal Government’s concern regarding the potential ramifications of the power struggle between Governor Fubara and Minister Nyesom Wike.
