President Tinubu claims that Governor Wike persuaded him to remove the FCT from TSA.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed his decision to remove the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from the Single Treasury Account (TSA). Speaking during a Sallah homage led by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, the President stated the TSA’s constraints were hindering crucial infrastructure development within the FCT.
President Tinubu highlighted Minister Wike’s proactive approach and presentation of a compelling developmental vision as key factors influencing the decision. He cited the ensuing rapid improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, and security within the FCT as validation of the policy shift.
Furthermore, the President emphasized the importance of prioritizing results and competency over ethnic or religious affiliation in leadership, using Minister Wike’s performance as a prime example of the benefits of such an approach. The removal from the TSA, therefore, represents a strategic maneuver aimed at accelerating development and improving the lives of FCT residents.
