On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu will depart Nigeria for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, which is set to address the pressing issues in the Middle East. The details of the trip were disclosed by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Saturday.
The summit, convened at the invitation of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, will commence on November 11, 2024. This gathering follows last year’s summit held in the same city, underscoring the ongoing commitment of Arab and Islamic nations to collaborate on regional challenges.
During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to address the critical issue of the Israel-Palestinian conflict. He will reiterate Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire and emphasize the urgent need for a peaceful resolution. Furthermore, Nigeria aims to advocate for renewed efforts to revive the two-state solution, which is widely regarded as a viable pathway to lasting peace in the region.
Accompanying President Tinubu will be a delegation that includes the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed. This high-level delegation reflects Nigeria’s commitment to playing an active role in fostering dialogue and cooperation in the Middle East.
