The Kebbi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially condemned the recent bandit attack on the Mera community in the Augie Local Government Area, which tragically resulted in the loss of 15 lives. Usman Suru, the state chairman, expressed the party’s condolences on behalf of the Working Committee, Party Elders, and the State Working Committee, describing the incident as both shocking and unfortunate.

In light of this violence, the PDP has called upon the State Government to re-evaluate its priorities. The party criticized the allocation of public resources for what it termed frivolous foreign trips, arguing that these excursions have yielded minimal benefits for the state’s citizens. Instead, the PDP advocates for a strategic investment in local initiatives that can stimulate economic growth.

The party has proposed the establishment and enhancement of Free Trade Zones and International Border Markets, as well as revitalizing industries at the Bulasa Industrial Layout. By focusing on local investment strategies, the PDP believes the state government can create a more stable economic environment, fostering long-term growth and employment opportunities for the people of Kebbi.

The need for meaningful investment rather than external financial dependency is crucial for the future of Kebbi State. In this moment of tragedy, the PDP emphasizes the importance of channeling resources toward initiatives that genuinely benefit the local population and contribute to sustainable development.
