Ohanaeze Ndigbo Applauds Governor Mbah’s Efforts in Restoring Peace in Enugu State.
The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Enugu State chapter, has commended the administration of Governor Peter Mbah for effectively addressing the challenges posed by “unknown gunmen” and the disruptive Monday sit-at-home orders that plagued the region. In a recent statement, signed by Dr. Okey Adenyi and Rt. Hon. Bonaventure Onuh, the organization highlighted the significant improvements in security and normalcy in Enugu since Governor Mbah’s assumption of office.
Upon taking office, Governor Mbah issued executive orders that explicitly prohibited the Monday sit-at-home, a practice that had severely impacted the socio-economic landscape of the state. The decisive actions taken by the government, in collaboration with security agencies, have restored the freedom of movement for the citizens of Enugu, allowing for a return to regular activities on Mondays.
Ohanaeze Ndigbo firmly rejected claims made by the Ohanaeze Youths Council, which urged the governor to prioritize security. The organization characterized these statements as unfounded and driven by a desire for attention rather than genuine concern. They emphasized that prior to Governor Mbah’s leadership, the activities of unknown gunmen had wreaked havoc across the state, culminating in the establishment of the sit-at-home order.
The group pointed to the deployment of advanced security measures, including high-powered CCTV cameras, a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre, and AI-equipped patrol vehicles, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to enhancing security. They asserted that Governor Mbah has set a new standard in addressing security challenges in Enugu.
Furthermore, Ohanaeze Ndigbo defended Governor Mbah against allegations regarding the South-East governors’ stance on the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. They reiterated the governor’s advocacy for Kanu’s freedom and his collaborative efforts with other governors to facilitate this process.
In conclusion, Ohanaeze Ndigbo urged the youth to engage in constructive activities and to refrain from making incendiary statements that could disrupt the peace in the region. They encouraged the community to recognize the positive changes initiated by Governor Mbah and to support ongoing efforts toward stability and progress in Enugu State.
