The Nigerian Navy continues its efforts to combat crude oil theft and illegal refining in the Niger Delta. In a recent operation, personnel from NNS SOROH discovered and deactivated a storage facility in Tumburu Community, Bayelsa State, on March 31, 2025. The facility contained pipes and valves used for illegal connections, along with numerous sacks filled with illegally refined petroleum products.

Following this discovery, the NNS SOROH patrol team further uncovered and deactivated an illegal refining site in Biseni forest, Bayelsa State. This site was equipped with 12 refining ovens, metal collectors, a generator, a motorcycle, and two large dug-out pits containing stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

These actions underscore the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to eradicating illegal oil activities and protecting the nation’s resources. Further investigations are likely underway to identify and apprehend those involved.
