Following Fenerbahce’s elimination from the UEFA Europa League at the hands of Rangers, manager Jose Mourinho has voiced strong concerns regarding the officiating. Despite securing a 2-0 victory in the second leg, the Turkish side’s aggregate deficit from the first leg proved insurmountable.

Mourinho specifically cited instances during the match where he felt decisions went unfairly against his team, suggesting the VAR failed to identify clear penalties. He alluded to a perceived pattern of unfavorable rulings in European competitions since his suspension stemming from the Budapest final.

“I hope everything that’s happened to me in European competitions is not a consequence of the Budapest final,” Mourinho stated, implying a potential bias. He further expressed hope that the perceived errors were merely coincidental and not a result of lingering repercussions from past incidents. The manager’s comments highlight the significant impact he believes officiating had on Fenerbahce’s Europa League campaign.
