Makinde – PDP will fix Nigeria.
In a statement made in Abuja, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde reaffirmed the commitment of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rejuvenate both the party and the nation at large. This assertion came during the inauguration of the Board of Governors and the unveiling of the Roadmap for the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI), the party’s research arm established in 2000.
Governor Makinde emphasized the pivotal role the PDP must play in restoring hope to Nigerians, especially in the lead-up to the 2027 elections. He articulated a clear vision: “We will fix PDP and then PDP will fix Nigeria.” This sentiment underscores the interconnectedness between party revitalization and national progress.
The PDI aims to foster a new democratic culture in Nigeria and Africa by offering educational and training programs, alongside capacity building and research initiatives. Makinde articulated the pressing need for the PDP to provide an ideological foundation as the nation seeks direction and clarity amidst its challenges.
Furthermore, he challenged political leaders to reflect on their legacies, urging them to consider how they wish to be remembered in service to their constituents. His remarks highlight a crucial understanding of leadership: that it is not merely about holding office, but about fostering genuine democratic principles and practices.
As Governor Makinde continues to advocate for a stronger democratic framework, his leadership may serve as a guiding beacon for the PDP and Nigeria as a whole, inspiring hope and a collective commitment towards a more prosperous future.
