Macron and Bin Salman Condemn Gaza Strikes, Advocate for Two-State Solution.
President Emmanuel Macron announced Wednesday that he and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have condemned the renewed Israeli strikes on Gaza. In a statement posted on X, President Macron revealed plans to co-chair a conference aimed at revitalizing the pursuit of a two-state solution for Israelis and Palestinians.
The leaders emphasized the critical need for a return to the ceasefire, citing its importance for hostage release and civilian protection. This statement comes amid reports of intensified Israeli military operations in Gaza following the collapse of the previous ceasefire.
Beyond the immediate crisis, Macron also lauded the Crown Prince’s Jeddah initiative, which facilitated the commencement of peace negotiations in Ukraine. Discussions between the two leaders extended to the situations in Syria and Lebanon, with both nations sharing a commitment to a fully sovereign Lebanon and a united, stable Syria engaged in inclusive transition.
