In Bauchi, six civil servants have been suspended due to accusations of selling government property.
The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (BSCSC) has taken significant disciplinary action, suspending six officers from the Ministry of Works and Transport due to allegations of serious misconduct. These officers, all affiliated with the Bauchi State Infrastructures Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA), are accused of illegally selling or converting government properties worth millions of naira.
The properties in question were reportedly removed from ongoing flyover construction projects at critical locations within the Bauchi metropolis, specifically the Wunti and Central Market areas. The suspension was formally announced in a statement released by the Commission’s Public Relations Officer, Saleh Umar, on Friday.
In accordance with the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations, the actions of the suspended officers are alleged to have breached Section 0327, prompting their suspension under Section 0331 of the same regulations. The officers affected by the suspension include:
– Mohammed Musa Saye – Chief Store Officer
– Ado Abba Pali – Senior Technical Officer
– Danladi Noma – Senior Fireman
– Garba Nuhu – Senior Works Superintendent
– Ibrahim Inuwa – Technical Assistant (Electrical)
– Uzairu Mudi – Technical Assistant (Electrical)
The BSCSC emphasized that this suspension aims to facilitate a comprehensive investigation into the reported misconduct by the appropriate authorities.
In a related development, the Commission also announced the promotion of 79 officers during its recent 41st plenary session held on November 14, 2024. Furthermore, the Commission is scheduled to observe a recess from November 25 to 28, 2024, to allow its members to attend the 43rd Annual Council of Federal and State Civil Service Commissions meeting in Katsina State.
