Femi Falana Demands Retraction from Bobrisky Over Defamatory Allegations
Renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana has formally issued a warning to popular crossdresser Bobrisky, urging a public retraction and apology for what he describes as defamatory allegations. Through his legal team, composed of Olorunfemi Akinyemi and Taiwo E. Olawanle, Falana accuses Bobrisky of fabricating claims that he solicited a bribe of N10 million to secure a presidential pardon after Bobrisky’s recent imprisonment.
In a series of online audios, Bobrisky alleged that he paid N5 million to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria for assistance in obtaining a pardon, implicating Falana in the supposed bribe. These assertions have been labeled as unfounded and damaging by Falana’s legal representatives, who demand a complete retraction, alongside an apology to be published across all platforms where the allegations were initially made.
Furthermore, Bobrisky reportedly attempted to solicit N3 million from fellow entertainer Falz, suggesting that Falana had promised to arrange special treatment during his time at Kirikiri Correctional Centre. Falana’s team has categorically denied such discussions ever took place, indicating that Bobrisky’s actions may stem from an intent to extort money while undermining Falana’s professional credibility.
With a strict ultimatum, Falana’s legal team has given Bobrisky a deadline of 12 hours to comply with their demands, failure to which could result in legal measures including claims for monetary damages. The letter dispatched to Bobrisky details the extensive damage caused to Falana’s reputation, stating that he has secured pardons for numerous individuals in the past, emphasizing that Bobrisky’s allegations have no basis in reality.
In an era where public figures are often scrutinized and misinformation can spread rapidly, this case underscores the importance of responsible communication and the potential consequences of defamatory statements. Falana’s pursuit of legal action highlights the commitment of reputable individuals to protect their integrity and maintain professional standards within the public sphere.
