FCTA Clarifies Land Revocation, Addresses PDP Concerns.
The Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) has issued a statement clarifying the recent revocation of land titles. Director of Lands, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, stated that only one property belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Plot Number 243 in the Central Area, was among the 4,974 revocations.
Addressing concerns regarding the PDP’s secretariat, Nwankwoeze clarified that the property belongs to Senator Samaila Mamman Kurfi, purchased from Wadata Enterprises Nigeria Limited. Both properties, he noted, were revoked due to outstanding ground rent payments; the PDP property owes N7,603,504.31 for 20 years, while Senator Kurfi owes N2,848,173.36 for 28 years.
The Director of Lands emphasized that the revocations were not politically motivated, citing numerous government institutions, including the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), among those affected by the exercise. The FCTA maintains that the revocations are part of a broader effort to recover outstanding debts and ensure compliance with land administration regulations.
