Clarification on the National Air Carrier Initiative: A Statement from Ibrahim Abubakar Kana.
In a recent press conference, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, addressed concerns regarding his previous comments on the potential revival of a National Air Carrier for Nigeria. Kana emphasized that he was misquoted, clarifying that his remarks were misinterpreted and do not indicate an immediate mandate to revive the previously unsuccessful Nigeria Air project in collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines.
Kana articulated that his initial statement, made during a hand-over ceremony, was intended to reflect the broader vision of the current administration under President Bola Tinubu. He underscored that any consideration of a National Carrier would only proceed if deemed favorable for the nation and in alignment with the directives of the President and the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo.
“I hope this clarifies all the ambiguities surrounding my earlier statement on this issue,” Kana stated, reaffirming his commitment to the ministry’s objectives and his loyalty to the Minister. He expressed a strong dedication to advancing Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace sector, aiming for innovation and growth that aligns with the aspirations of the Nigerian people.
As the ministry navigates its future initiatives, Kana’s assurance of collaboration and strategic direction reflects a commitment to enhancing the aviation landscape in Nigeria.
