Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, recently shared insights into her formative years in the music industry during an interview with Glamour Magazine Germany. The artist, celebrated for her hit single “Essence,” candidly admitted to her naivety at the outset of her career, emphasizing her singular focus on creating quality art.

“I don’t want to lie. I was very naive at the beginning of my career – I just wanted to make good art,” Tems remarked. She acknowledged that the path to success required her to learn how to navigate the complexities of the music business in a constructive manner.

In her reflections, Tems credited her family and management team as crucial sources of support. “I would say that it is both my management and my family that keep me grounded. Especially my family, my mother and my brother,” she noted, highlighting the importance of a solid support system in her professional journey.
